Welcome to UDA Participation Risk, Liability & Hold Harmless Waiver

Applies to: 2026/27 Academic Year
Participation in soccer, training, matches, travel, fitness activities, academy events, and related program activities involves risks. This waiver explains those risks and the responsibilities accepted by players and families when participating in UDA activities.

Activities Covered

This waiver applies to participation in UDA activities including, but not limited to:

  • Soccer training
  • Matches
  • Fitness sessions
  • Strength and conditioning
  • Academy events
  • Team meetings
  • Travel
  • Tours
  • Transportation
  • Housing or accommodation connected to UDA activities
  • University or partner activities connected to the program
  • Social, cultural, or community activities connected to the program
  • Any other UDA-related activity

Assumption of Risk

Players understand that participation may involve risks including, but not limited to:
  • Physical injury
  • Illness
  • Fatigue
  • Contact with other players
  • Falls
  • Collisions
  • Weather-related risks
  • Facility-related risks
  • Travel-related risks
  • Equipment-related risks
  • Unexpected medical events
  • Other risks connected to sport and academy participation

​Some risks may be serious. Players are responsible for participating safely, following instructions, and communicating any medical, physical, or safety concerns to UDA staff.

Player Responsibility

Players are expected to:

  • Participate responsibly.
  • Follow coach and staff instructions.
  • Use equipment appropriately.
  • Report injuries, illness, or unsafe conditions.
  • Avoid participating when injured, ill, or medically restricted.
  • Keep medical and emergency information up to date.
  • Treat teammates, staff, opponents, officials, and community members with respect.

UDA Safety Efforts

UDA will take reasonable steps to support player safety and wellbeing. This may include coaching supervision, communication, safety procedures, emergency response, and reasonable program rules.

However, UDA cannot eliminate all risks connected to sport, travel, or academy participation.

Release & Hold Harmless

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the player and/or parent/guardian agrees not to hold UDA, its officers, directors, staff, coaches, volunteers, contractors, affiliates, partners, or approved service providers responsible for claims, losses, damages, injuries, costs, or expenses arising from participation in UDA activities, except where such responsibility cannot be excluded by law.

The player and/or parent/guardian agrees to indemnify and hold harmless UDA and its representatives from claims or demands arising from the player’s participation, conduct, failure to follow rules, or failure to disclose relevant medical or safety information.

No Medical Guarantee

UDA does not guarantee that participation will be free from injury, illness, or medical risk.

Players should consult a qualified medical professional if they have questions about whether they are fit to participate

Insurance

Players and families are responsible for understanding what insurance coverage applies to their participation, travel, medical care, and personal belongings.

UDA may require proof of insurance or other documentation for certain programs, travel, or events.

Player/Parent Acknowledgement

By signing the annual UDA Player Agreements & Consents in UDA Connect, I acknowledge that:​

  • I have read and understand the UDA Participation Risk, Liability & Hold Harmless Waiver.
  • I understand that participation in UDA activities involves risk.
  • I voluntarily accept the risks connected to participation.
  • I agree to follow UDA rules, instructions, and safety expectations.
  • I agree to keep UDA informed of any medical, physical, or safety issue that may affect participation.
  • I understand that this waiver applies to UDA-related activities during the applicable program year.
